The Estate
The 10 ha vineyard is enclosed by walls and planted on a gently sloping hillside facing south-east, at an altitude of around 350m, with a lovely view of the Chaîne des Puys and the Forez mountains.
Two small plots nearby, the Monts and the Rocs, complete the estate.
The estate's vines are between 20 and 70 years old and have been cultivated organically since 2006. The soil of the plots surrounding the estate is composed of clayey-silty sand on a subsoil of altered granitic and metamorphic rocks (gneiss). Our grape varieties are Pinot Noir and Gamay for red, and Chardonnay and Tressallier for white.
In 2023, we purchased La Treille, a small old vineyard, planted with Tressallier and Saint Pierre Dorée on clay-limestone soil, 3 km from Clos de Breuilly.
The Wines
The Saint-Pourçain AOP
We produce two vintages of Saint-Pourçain AOP per color, one called simply Saint-Pourçain and the other Barnabooth. What distinguishes the Saint-Pourçain and Barnabooth vintages is the proportion of the blends as well as the aging: the Barnabooth are aged in oak barrels while the Saint-Pourçain are aged in vats.
Single-variety grapes
We also produce single-varietal cuvées outside the AOP: Les Rocs, a Gamay plot, Les Grands Rangs, a Pinot Noir aged for 18 months in barrels, and Tressallier, named after the endemic and emblematic grape variety of the appellation.
The bubbles
Finally, we have our Bulles, a brut nature produced using the “traditional method” (second fermentation in the bottle, aging on slats for one to three years, no dosage) from black grapes (gamay and pinot noir).
