Tasting

Pale golden yellow in color with a slight green reflection, Les Charmeuses cuvée offers subtle aromas of white flowers such as gentian, fresh fruit such as apricot, and even candied fruit, complemented by toasted notes. The expression in the mouth is powerful. While being structured, it remains perfectly balanced with a good length in the mouth. Pleasant to drink now, it can be kept for a few years. Serve it at 10 ° C by pairing it with a freshwater fish in a sauce such as pike-perch with dill, pike in white butter or trout with almonds. The scallop in all its forms is an excellent pairing. Also think of goat cheese.

Viticulture

The two grape varieties of the appellation are present in the Les Charmeuses cuvée: Marsanne wins with 60% of the blend, completed by Roussanne. The average age of the vines reaches 30 years. The vines are located north of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, on sandy clay loam soil on loess, at 155m.
The planting density is 7,000 vines / ha. The yield is 45Hl / ha. The manual harvest usually takes place the second week of September.

Vinification

The pneumatic pressing is followed by a light settling by gravity for 48 hours. Then alcoholic fermentation takes place, for 20% in barrels at 16 ° C and the rest in vats. Regular stirring gives fat to the wine. It is aged for 9 months in barrels and vats.
